March 29: Earth Hour (See the difference you can make.)
"Earth Hour 2007 was a Sydney event. Now, Earth Hour 2008 is a global movement!"
When? Saturday, March 29, 2008
What time? 8:00 - 9:00 p.m.
"On March 29, the Town of Markham will join cities around the world and will turn out lights at the Markham Civic Centre and other municipal
facilities for one hour to raise awareness about global warming through the Earth Hour campaign.
Our goal: To get thousands of Markham businesses and individuals to participate in this historic event and reduce our impact on climate change. PowerStream will measure the Town's contribution to this worldwide effort.
Get Involved! Help us make Earth Hour 2008 even bigger
Earth Hour has grown from a single event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, to a global phenomenon that will occur across six continents in 2008."
"Join the global movement. It's easy!
1. Sign up at www.earthhour.org
2. On Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m.
o Homes: turn off the lights and unplug appliances for one hour.
o Businesses: turn off the lights and exterior signage for one hour.
Show your support, spread the word and continue to make a difference by conserving energy everyday."
