... "The Varley Art Gallery continues its 10th anniversary celebrations and partners with the Merchants of Unionville for a three-day, Golf Festival, July 26-28."

"The Town is working closely with the RCGA and Angus Glen Golf Club to support this event that could draw more than 30,000 spectators each day. The Town will implement a plan to address event and commuter traffic as well as security and safety during the week."

"An event like the Open is a great economic benefit to our community," says Councillor Dan Horchik, a member of the Town of Markham's Canadian Open Committee. "We're always pleased to welcome new visitors to our community along with those who have already had a taste of all Markham has to offer."

"This is the second time Markham has hosted the world's elite golfers. The Town also hosted the 2002 Canadian Open."
